Chapter 2 Dating is a dating and community platform created exclusively for people who have experienced the loss of a spouse or partner.
Our priority is to provide a safe, respectful and trusted environment where widowed people can explore friendship, companionship and dating after loss.
By applying to join or using Chapter 2 Dating, you agree to comply with this Acceptable Use Policy.
1. Age Requirement
Chapter 2 Dating is strictly for adults aged 18 years or over.
Applicants may be required to complete age verification using Yoti, our third-party age verification provider. Additional identity verification may also be required as part of our safeguarding and application process where appropriate.
Anyone found to be under 18 will not be permitted to use the platform.
2. Widowed Status & Applicant Verification
Chapter 2 Dating is specifically designed for the widowed community. Applicants must genuinely have experienced the death of a spouse or partner.
As part of our application and safeguarding process, we may request evidence confirming an applicant’s widowed status. Examples of evidence we may accept include:
- A photograph or copy of a death certificate;
- A link to a published obituary or death notice;
- A memorial or fundraising page, such as a GoFundMe page;
- A memorialised Facebook profile or other established memorial profile; or
- Other reasonable evidence that enables us to verify the applicant’s circumstances.
Providing false, altered or misleading information or documentation is strictly prohibited.
Applications are individually reviewed and manually approved. Where we are unable to satisfactorily verify an application, we may request additional information or decline or suspend access to the platform.
Any documentation or information submitted specifically for verification purposes will be handled separately from public member content and in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
3. Identity and Profile Integrity
Members must represent themselves truthfully.
Users must not impersonate another person, create a false identity, deliberately misrepresent their age or circumstances, use another person’s photographs without permission, operate fraudulent profiles or otherwise attempt to deceive other members.
4. Prohibited Conduct
Chapter 2 Dating has zero tolerance for fraud, scams, exploitation or abusive behaviour.
Users must not use the platform to:
- Engage in fraud or attempted fraud;
- Request or solicit money from other members;
- Promote investment, cryptocurrency or financial schemes;
- Engage in romance scams;
- Harass, threaten, intimidate or abuse another person;
- Discriminate against or target another person;
- Stalk another member;
- Promote violence or illegal activity;
- Distribute malware, spam or malicious links;
- Attempt to obtain passwords, banking details or other sensitive information; or
- Use Chapter 2 Dating for any unlawful purpose.
5. Prohibited Content and Services
Members must not upload, publish, send or distribute content that is illegal, threatening, abusive, hateful, exploitative, fraudulent or deliberately misleading.
Pornographic or sexually explicit material intended for sexual gratification is not permitted.
Chapter 2 Dating is a mainstream dating and relationship platform. It does not provide, promote or facilitate prostitution, escort services, paid sexual services, sexually oriented services or other adult services.
6. Prohibited Activities – Human Trafficking, Sexual Exploitation and Abuse
Chapter 2 Dating Ltd maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards human trafficking, sexual exploitation, abuse and any activity that facilitates or encourages such conduct.
Users must not use Chapter 2 Dating or any of its services to:
- Engage in, facilitate, promote or support human trafficking in any form, including trafficking for sexual exploitation.
- Aid, abet, encourage, solicit or facilitate sexual exploitation, coercion, abuse or violence against any person.
- Recruit, groom, exploit, threaten or manipulate individuals for the purpose of trafficking, sexual exploitation or abuse.
- Share content, communicate or engage in any activity that promotes, facilitates or encourages these prohibited behaviours.
Any suspected violation may result in immediate suspension or permanent termination of the user’s account without appeal. Where appropriate, Chapter 2 Dating Ltd may report suspected criminal activity to relevant law enforcement authorities and cooperate with lawful investigations.
The safety and wellbeing of our members is paramount. Chapter 2 Dating Ltd reserves the right to investigate suspected violations and take appropriate action to protect its community, in accordance with applicable law.
7. Financial Solicitation and Scams
Members must never use Chapter 2 Dating to solicit money, loans, gifts, investments, cryptocurrency, bank transfers or other financial assistance from other members.
Any suspected financial scam or attempted financial exploitation should be reported to us immediately.
We reserve the right to suspend or permanently remove any account where we suspect fraudulent activity, financial exploitation or attempted scams.
8. Reporting and Moderation
Members are encouraged to report profiles, messages or behaviour that they believe breach this policy or cause concern.
Reports are reviewed by the Chapter 2 Dating team, and appropriate action may include further verification, warnings, restrictions, suspension or permanent removal from the platform.
Where appropriate, suspected criminal activity may also be reported to the relevant authorities.
9. Our Safeguarding Approach
Chapter 2 Dating uses multiple safeguards designed to reduce fraudulent accounts and inappropriate use of the platform, including:
- Age verification through Yoti;
- Additional verification where appropriate;
- Verification of widowed status;
- Manual review of applications;
- Manual account approval;
- Member reporting facilities;
- Investigation of suspicious behaviour; and
- Suspension or removal of accounts that breach our policies.
Our verification processes are designed to reduce risk, but no online dating platform can guarantee the identity, intentions or behaviour of every individual. Members should continue to exercise appropriate care when communicating with or meeting another person.
10. Enforcement
We reserve the right to investigate suspected breaches of this Acceptable Use Policy.
Depending on the circumstances, we may request further verification, restrict account functionality, temporarily suspend an account or permanently remove an account.
Serious or repeated breaches may result in immediate permanent removal.
11. Reporting, Moderation and Takedown Process
We are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful and trusted environment for our members. Users may report any profile, message, image or other content that they believe breaches this Acceptable Use Policy or otherwise raises a safety concern.
Reports may include, but are not limited to, suspected fake or fraudulent profiles, impersonation, scams, harassment, threatening or abusive behaviour, inappropriate content, non-consensual intimate imagery, images or content shared without the subject’s consent, or any other prohibited activity.
How to report a concern
Users can report concerns using the reporting functionality available within the platform or by contacting our support team directly. Where someone believes that a profile has been created in their name, or that an image or other content concerning them has been posted without their consent, they may also contact us directly to request its review and removal.
Our review process
All reports are reviewed by our team. Depending on the nature and seriousness of the report, we may temporarily restrict an account while we investigate. This may prevent the account holder from messaging or otherwise interacting with other members.
We may review the reported content, profile information, relevant communications and other account activity reasonably necessary to investigate the concern.
Removal and enforcement
Where we determine that content or an account breaches this Acceptable Use Policy, we may take appropriate action including:
- removing the relevant content;
- restricting access to features or communications;
- temporarily suspending an account;
- permanently terminating an account; and/or
- taking any other action reasonably necessary to protect our members and platform.
Where there is an immediate safety concern, suspected fraud, impersonation, non-consensual content or other serious violation, we reserve the right to restrict or remove content or accounts without prior notice.
We may preserve relevant records and cooperate with law enforcement, regulators or other appropriate authorities where required by law or where reasonably necessary in connection with suspected unlawful activity.
Non-consensual content
We do not permit profiles created in another person’s identity without their consent, nor do we permit intimate images or other private content relating to another person to be uploaded or shared without their consent.
Requests concerning impersonation or non-consensual content will be treated as a priority. Where appropriate, content will be removed and the responsible account may be suspended or permanently terminated.
Prohibited Conduct and Content
Chapter 2 Dating Ltd is committed to providing a safe, respectful and lawful environment for all members. We have zero tolerance for exploitation, abuse, violence or non-consensual sexual content.
Users must not use Chapter 2 Dating or any of its services to engage in, facilitate, promote, encourage, solicit, aid or abet:
- Human trafficking, sexual exploitation, forced labour or any other form of exploitation of another person.
- Abuse, threats, harassment, coercion, violence or conduct which encourages, assists or facilitates the abuse or exploitation of another person.
- Sexual violence, sexual assault, rape, coercive sexual behaviour or any sexual activity involving a person who has not freely consented.
- Child sexual exploitation or abuse in any form, including the creation, possession, solicitation, sharing, distribution or promotion of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Any sexual content involving a person under the age of 18 is strictly prohibited.
- Non-consensual intimate or sexual content, including sharing, threatening to share, requesting or distributing intimate images, videos or other sexual material without the explicit consent of the person depicted.
These prohibitions apply to profiles, photographs, messages, links, communications and any other content or activity conducted through the platform.
Chapter 2 Dating Ltd reserves the right to immediately suspend or permanently terminate any account where we reasonably believe these rules have been breached. Where appropriate, suspected illegal activity may also be reported to the relevant law-enforcement or safeguarding authorities.
Users are encouraged to report any content or behaviour that they believe breaches these rules. Reports will be reviewed promptly and appropriate action taken.
